6 Bonding Activities Without Electronics
These days, it can be tough to get kids away from technology. From gaming apps and funny YouTube videos to TV and video games, there’s a lot of digital entertainment on offer.
However, we all know that too much screen time can be bad for us. So, if you want to spend time together as a family it’s a good idea to look at activities you can do which don’t feature electronics.
Here, you’ll discover 6 bonding activities without electronics you can do with the family.
1. Go on a Nature Walk
Getting out into the fresh air is one of the best ways to spend time together as a family. Nature walks are particularly great for family bonding.
Not only does getting out for a walk help to keep the family fit, but it also gives the kids the chance to learn. You can teach them about the nature you come across and let them ask you questions about the things they see.
As an additional bonus, walks often tire kids out. So, by the time you get home they’ll be much calmer and quieter.
Here’s some fun activity sheets to bring along!
2. Host a Talent Show
You don’t need to venture out to enjoy an electronics free family day. A great bonding activity you can do indoors is to host a talent show.
Each member of the family can showcase their talent. Then, at the end everyone chooses a winner. If you’re worried having a winner could lead to arguments, instead give everyone a prize and just use the talent acts as a form of entertainment. The kids will love participating as well as watching the different “acts”.
3. LEGO Night
LEGO has remained one of the most popular toys for decades. However, it isn’t just enjoyable for kids to use, it can also be great for adults too.
Why not spend a night building LEGO sets together? You can pick up some pretty impressive kits these days. When you’re physically building something together, it’s a great bonding activity. It also helps to teach the kids important development skills.
4. Cook Together
Did you know most kids love to cook? So, why not use your time to cook something together?
Even toddlers can get involved in the kitchen. You could create your own pizzas or bake some cupcakes together. Or, you could let them help you cook the evening meal. There are so many recipes you can create together, and they’ll be more likely to eat it if they’ve helped make it.
Another fab idea is to host little cooking lessons. Teach the kids how to perform basic cooking tasks. This won’t just help you to bond, it will also teach them valuable skills they can use as an adult.
5. Go on a Bike Ride
Another active idea is to head off on a family bike ride. Again, the fresh air is great for everyone and it allows you to explore your local area from a different perspective.
If you enjoy your family bike rides together, you could also start to head off on cycling holidays as a family.
6. Night at the Museum
Want to get out of the house in the evening? Taking the family to a night at the museum is a great alternative option. There’s something magical and serene about visiting a museum at night. The kids will find it exciting getting out of the house and they’ll also learn a lot during their visit.
There are so many bonding activities you can partake in with the family that don’t involve electronics. Why not consider the above ideas the next time you’re looking for fun things to do together?
See you tomorrow to discover another frugal way to have fun this summer!
