Don’t Be Afraid to Give Advice and Expertise Away Freely
One way to not only brag about yourself but prove that you’re as good as you say you are is to give away advice and expertise freely. In fact, the more of a resource you can be to your audience, the more they’re going to trust you. Also, the more they’re going to be willing to pay for what you offer because they know that you give away a lot of quality information to them already, that means the info that you sell must be topnotch, too.
When you give away free stuff:
They Feel Obligated to Buy – When you are generous most of the time and then make an offer, your audience is going to feel more obligated to buy from you. They won’t want to keep missing out on your amazing freebies by turning down all your paid offers.
They Perceive the Value as High – When you add a free bonus to a paid product if that paid product is a high-value product, your audience will believe that the included freebie is worth more than it is and feel super fortunate that they got it. They’ll likely brag about you too.
More is Better – One way to look at freebies is to offer more rather than less. More freebies but make sure they’re targeted freebies with a real purpose to promote something paid to them is going to help make more sales. One rule of thumb to try to do is to give away the why and sell the how.
Seeing the Quality Encourages More Buying – One thing freebies do best is show your quality. If the quality of your freebies is high, they’ll know that your paid products will also be high-quality. In all seriousness, your freebies should be equal in quality to your highest paid products or services.
You can add more freebies to your offers by:
Adding in-content upgrades to your blog posts
If you already have content on your blog, you can go in and add freebies right now. You don’t even have to create the freebies yourself. For example, if you have a blog post about The Importance of Eating More Greens, your freebie in-content upgrade could be a digital download offering 10 Free Smoothie Recipes that Hide Your Greens.
Creating more freebies based on your visitor’s location
Another way to create freebies that your audience will want to get is to create a brand-new freebie for each of your audience segments based on where they link to your site from. For example, you may want a freebie directed toward your LinkedIn group members, or your Facebook group members, or something else. Create a landing page for each so that you can welcome them properly based on where they came from. It’ll make them feel like VIPs.
Freebies can be transcripts of interviews, case studies, white papers, eBooks, eReports, email courses, and more. If it helps explain the problem in more detail and promotes the paid product, then you’re doing it right.
