RECIPE: Strawberry Watermelon Smoothie
We all tend to eat the same foods over and over again because it’s faster and easier than figuring out something new, don’t you agree?
Well, this is not necessarily a bad thing, but research shows that adding variety to your diet can boost your metabolism PLUS it also helps you get all of the diverse minerals, phytonutrients, and vitamins your body needs.
This summer, I decided to help you make it a little bit easier to whip up newest creative food combinations by sharing mouth-watering recipes with you. What a delicious way to make new foods a part of your daily lifestyle!
Here’s a refreshing smoothie recipe to beat the heat:
Strawberry Watermelon Smoothie
Ingredients:
¼ c. fresh lime juice
½ c. water
2 c. fresh watermelon, rinds removed
1 c. fresh or frozen strawberries
2 sprigs fresh mint
crushed ice, as desired
Directions:
Add ingredients to blender container in the order recommended for the type of blender you are using.
For high-powered blenders, make sure the machine is on the lowest speed setting before you begin. Then, slowly increase the speed to the highest setting. For regular blenders, use different speeds and the pulse button to thoroughly combine the ingredients.
Blend for 1 - 2 minutes or until the ingredients are completely smooth.
